Exercise 1.5

Research proposals are important success for a research project. Exercise 1.5 instructs to make a research proposal. Here is mine: 1. Inquiry Question: Does the military help or hurt? 2. Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this project is to discover if the organization in charge of projecting us are causing good and helping us or are they causing more harm than good. 3. What opinions/previous experiences to bring to the project: I think that the military is necessary due to the natural evil mankind has. My dad was in the Army National Guard, one of my grandfathers was in the Marines and another was in the Navy, and one of my uncles was in the Marines.

  1. Cody, as I'm sure you've already discovered in your research, "military" is a broad topic. Have you found some ways to narrow and focus your research? When I read your inquiry question, I immediately ask questions like: Whose military? Does the military help or hurt what? What specific branch of the military are you most interested in? Is there a recent news story you've seen that prompted your interest in this question? Have you found other people asking the same or similar question?

I hope some of these questions will help you begin to more narrowly focus your topic.
