Exercise 1.5

Research proposals are important success for a research project. Exercise 1.5 instructs to make a research proposal. Here is mine: 1. Inquiry Question: Does the military help or hurt? 2. Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this project is to discover if the organization in charge of projecting us are causing good and helping us or are they causing more harm than good. 3. What opinions/previous experiences to bring to the project: I think that the military is necessary due to the natural evil mankind has. My dad was in the Army National Guard, one of my grandfathers was in the Marines and another was in the Navy, and one of my uncles was in the Marines.

Exercise 1

In class we are going through a book called The Curious Researcher. This book is a guide to writing research papers. In this blog I will be going through the exercises assigned. Exercise 1 Step One: Chose one statement the you believe is true or one that is false. Write fast for three minuets without stopping about the belief. Belief: You can use your own writing voice. I think that when you are writing you should use your own writing voice because you need to be unique and set your self apart. I think that you can do this and still be a great writer, different isn't always bad. Being yourself can never hurt you. If you are yourself around people know matter who they are then people will respect you more. Same way in your writing. Step Two:Chose another statement and do another three minuet fastwrite. Statement: Pretty much everything you read in textbooks is true. I think that this statement is false but true at the same time. I think that it can be false because information is constantly becoming out dated and so text books would not be necessarily true to the time. Also I think that depending on your belief system then some information won't be true to your viewpoint. Like if you don't believe in evolution and a textbook talks about it then the textbook would not be true. I think that is is true at the same time because if the information is up to date then the majority of the textbook will be true.
